a memoir
young harold

Some years ago Sara suggested that I should write my life story. I thought she meant for publication and I dismissed the idea out of hand because nothing had happened in my life that would be of the slightest interest to anybody outside my immediate family. Later it occurred to me that she did think of it as being for the family. Most of you didn't come along until many years along my road. Even Lorna didn't meet me until I was about 38-39. The other day Lorna made the same suggestion so I'm making a start. If I ever finish it, or live to finish it, you'd better set a week or two aside to read it because it will be rather long. In fact I might let you have it in instalments so that you don't have to face a massive chore all at once. begin
